Atem Kuol is a Television and Film Writer-Director with a passion for bold, character-driven storytelling and visually ambitious drama.

He is currently serving as Second Unit Director on SAS Rogue Heroes (BBC/Amazon MGM, Series 3) — a high-end, action-heavy drama where his background in Visual Effects has proven invaluable.

Atem’s recent directing work includes two directing blocks of Emmerdale for ITV Studios (1x60, 5x30), each reaching around four million viewers and tackling storylines ranging from domestic violence to multi-generational ensemble scenes.

With over eight years of experience in VFX production, Atem has contributed to major Hollywood and high-end TV projects, including Marvel’s Loki, Disney+’s Willow, and Amazon MGM’s Heads of State. This technical expertise gives him a sharp visual sensibility and a highly collaborative approach on set.

His latest short films, Milk and Open Wide, delve into complex human emotions and moral tension, delivering stories that resonate long after the credits roll.
