Atem Kuol is a television director and writer working across HETV drama. His recent directing work includes serving as Additional Second Unit Director on the third series of Rogue Heroes, alongside directing multiple blocks of ITV’s Emmerdale.

Before establishing himself as a director, Atem spent almost a decade working across some of the world’s biggest film and television productions, collaborating with Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Disney, 20th Century Fox, Netflix, Amazon MGM and the BBC. Working at the heart of large-scale productions gave him a deep understanding of visual storytelling, filmmaking at scale and complex production experience, which continues to shape his cinematic approach to directing today.

Atem’s work is defined by emotionally grounded performances, a strong instinct for character-driven storytelling and cinematic visuals. Drawing on years of experience collaborating with world-class filmmakers, he brings a confident visual style to HETV drama, with a particular passion for thrillers and genre-led projects.

As a writer, Atem is developing original television projects while continuing to build his directing career across UK and international HETV drama.
